On August 31, 2026, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, welcomed Ms. Sarah Rogerson, Country Director for Thailand, British Council Thailand, and her delegation on the occasion of her recent appointment. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to further strengthen collaboration between Khon Kaen University and the British Council in education, research, and network building between Thailand and the United Kingdom.
On the same occasion, the British Council delegation held the launch of the Next Generation Thailand research at Khon Kaen University, presenting findings from a nationwide study involving more than 2,000 young people in Thailand. The study explores young people’s beliefs, aspirations, experiences, and the challenges facing the younger generation. One of the key topics highlighted during the discussion was young people’s growing interest in entrepreneurship, reflecting opportunities to further develop their skills and potential. The findings also point to potential opportunities for Khon Kaen University to play a greater role in supporting entrepreneurship skills development among young people in the future.
Both sides also exchanged information on opportunities and funding mechanisms that support education and research collaboration between Thailand and the United Kingdom. These include the Thailand–UK Transnational Education (TNE) Exploratory Grants, which support the development of partnerships between Thai and UK higher education institutions, and the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF), which promotes research networks and collaboration between researchers and institutions in both countries. KKU researchers have previously received grants through the ISPF to support research collaboration between Thailand and the United Kingdom.
The meeting marked another important step in strengthening the longstanding relationship between Khon Kaen University and the British Council, while opening up further opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and skills development for the younger generation. It also reinforced KKU’s connections with institutions and partners in the United Kingdom, paving the way for stronger and more tangible collaboration in the future.
