The Executives for foreign affairs led by Prof. Dr. Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns, Acting Assistant to the President for International Affairs, Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Acting Assistant to the President for International Cooperation and Miss. Netdao Chamroendararasmee, Acting Director of International Relations Division, welcomed Khun Watinee Kharnwong, the Director of Education of the Australian Embassy in Thailand, on Thursday 19th of February 2015 in the meeting room of the International Relations Division.
The delegate from the Australian Embassy and the international affairs executives exchanged information and discussed the possibility to establish and strengthen the international cooperation with educational institutes in Australia. Cooperation between Khon Kaen University and the universities in Australia could be realized in many ways, such as in the project “New Colombo Plan” which is a project initiated by the Australian government for Australian undergraduate students to study or be under an exchange program in Asian countries. The “Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships” are the scholarships given to students, staff and researchers in Thailand for the purpose of training, academic visiting, or studying for a short period in Australia. Both projects provide a chance for both staff and students of Khon Kaen University, and possibility for increasing the number of inbound and outbound students as well as for increasing the potential of teachers in the fields of teaching and research. Furthermore, another topic was discussed on the trend and attitude of the Institute of Education in Australia towards the development of cooperation and the exchange concerning the academic sphere as well as the learning and teaching with universities in Thailand. Khon Kaen University should be one of the important targets of the institutes in Australia that wish to develop cooperation, as there are suitable potentials in academics, research, learning and teaching and the environment of Khon Kaen University.
