Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University mentioned that Khon Kaen University has strong relationships with the State of Israel. There is a long standing collaboration on jointly developed research projects, especially in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, such as "Thai–Israel Techno-Demonstration unit for irrigating high-value crops" and the "Agricultural Demonstration Farm". These are important outcomes from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of the State of Israel and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand that was signed in 2002.
Moreover, KKU has other corporation activities with Israel. In 2015, the former Israeli Ambassador to Thailand visited KKU for the opening ceremony of the “Small Irrigation International Training Course” to promote the efficiency of water resource management in arid areas in the northeastern region of Thailand. And in 2020, the former Ambassador presided over the opening ceremony of the Hybrid Greenhouse, a project in collaboration with MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, to support the development and solution of the problem of limiting the use of clean water in households and the use of water in agricultural activities in North-eastern Thailand. It is a great model for teaching and learning at our Faculty of Agriculture, and also serves to transfer education to farmers in the E-Saan region. This meeting with the embassy is therefore a good opportunity to exchange cooperation in various fields in the future.
