» International Affairs together with Research and Graduate Studies arrange a seminar “How to gain NIH grant: NIH Ep. 2022” for supporting KKU research toward 'Global Frontier Research University' (566 Views)

On 31 May 2022, at 10.00 a.m., at the Graduate School Meeting Room, 4th floor, Bimala Kalakicha Building, International Affairs Division, the International Affairs and the Research and Graduate Studies arranged a seminar “How to gain NIH grant: NIH Ep. 2022” to be a forum to exchange knowledge and experiences about fundings from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the USA for senior researchers, faculty members, and those who were interested in this international grant. This seminar was honored by the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Patimaporn Pungchanchakul, Head of Pediatric Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, gave the lectures on their high experiences in various aspects with useful information and advice, including how researchers need to prepare, techniques for finding International collaboration, the support of KKU in NIH grant, budgeting, proposal adjustment for winning the reviewer’s heart, and Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) Policy. This activity attracted over 50 participants both onsite and online and there were many researchers interested in submitting research proposals to receive funding from the NIH. The number of global research funding in KKU would be increasing in the near future.

This event was honored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, who delivered an opening speech: “I am delighted to preside over the opening ceremony of this seminar “How to gain NIH grant: NIH Ep. 2022”. This activity is a continuation of the workshop last year July 2021, where the International Affairs and the Research and Graduate Studies jointly cooperated, to encourage the faculty members and KKU researchers to have access to this essential funding source. Statistically, this funding source will fund more than 300,000 researchers/scientists worldwide, or more than 2,500 institutions per year, with a total funding amount of more than $31 billion.

In addition, “The NIH Research Grants can help KKU academic staff conduct their research projects with high citation scores and high impact values, leading to a better World University Ranking. And most importantly, this grant aims to drive KKU towards becoming a world-leading research university in the aspect of 'Global Frontier Research University'. Today is a good opportunity as two invited promising senior researchers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat and Asst. Prof. Dr. Patimaporn Pungchanchakul had participated in this seminar as an NIH expert grantee to share their professional knowledge with their own experiences with KKU researchers.
