» The International Affairs together with the Research and Graduate Studies organized the “Workshop on European Funding Opportunities & Horizon 2022”, for driving KKU to access the EU funding opportunities, especially Horizon 2022 (942 Views)

On 7 June 2022, at 09.30 a.m., at the Graduate School Meeting Room, 4th floor, Bimala Kalakicha Building, International Affairs Division, the International Affairs, together with the Research and Graduate Studies, organized the activity “Workshop on European Funding Opportunities & Horizon 2022”. It is the third workshop series, which was held under the objective of providing knowledge and a forum for researchers, staff, students and interested parties to learn about funding opportunities from the European Union, in particular Horizon 2022, and of exchanging knowledge and experiences with experts about this funding source.

Our two honor speakers conducted this workshop. Dr. Hans Jørgen Overgaard, our Norwegian Visiting Scholar, gave a lecture on the topic introduction to the European Funding Opportunities and the Horizon Europe. Prof. Pisake Lumbiganon, MD, Senior Research Scholar from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, shared his experiences on the topic “Sharing an experience with KKU Horizon Grantee.” The event attracted over 50 participants both onsite and online, with many researchers interested in the EU funding and Horizon 2022.

This event was honored by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, who presided over the opening ceremony of "Workshop on European Funding Opportunities & Horizon 2022" and said that “ The European Union is another potential organization that supports research funding, academic service scholarships, student & staff exchanges, with funding to support cooperation development in the Higher Education Institutions, particularly, funding under the Horizon 2022 project. The EU budgets this project with more than 95 billion euros. This huge amount is an opportunity for Khon Kaen University to encourage our professors, researchers, and students to have better access to this funding source. This will help KKU academic staff produce research publications with high citation scores, leading to a better World University Ranking of Khon Kaen University and driving KKU towards becoming a world-leading research university in the aspect of 'Global Frontier Research University'.
