» KKU President discusses with Suleyman Demirel University, Kazakhstan to strengthen relationship and joint research studies (627 Views)

On 20 June 2022, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU, together with KKU administrators, participated in an online discussion on academic research, scholarships and other areas with administrators of Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan at the Meeting Room 5, 6th floor, Sirikunakorn Building, KKU.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU delivered an opening speech, saying “On behalf of Khon Kaen University, it is a great honor to meet and collaborate with Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Kanok Wongtrangan for being a key person in the cooperation between two universities.
 
Khon Kaen University is a leading university in the northeastern region of Thailand, located in the center of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries, with a vision to become “a world-leading research and development university” under the value of “dedication to society”. Currently, KKU has more than 30,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students from Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology.
 
Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan is a leading university located in the middle of Asia. It has research papers covering many fields, especially Engineering, Science and Technology, Business, Education and Social Sciences. Therefore, Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan and Khon Kaen University are able to exchange knowledge in similar disciplines to strengthen academics.
 
This exchange is strongly believed to be a starting point for cooperation in development and activities between Suleyman Demirel University and Khon Kaen University, whether student or personnel exchange programs, staff cooperation or dissemination of academic works. Khon Kaen University thanked the administrators of Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan for the honor to attend this meeting and is looking forward to projects that will arise from the good relationship between the two Universities .

Prof. Dr. Kanok Wongtrangan said that 20 June 2022,  was a great day for Khon Kaen University and Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan to establish a good relationship. Thailand and Kazakhstan have similar cultures, especially in building relationships and friendship. For instance, in the Northeastern region of Khon Kaen province there is a tradition called “Phook Siew”. So is there in Kazakhstan. It is a tradition that if you make friends or support someone, then everything is possible and willing to help each other. Furthermore, this meeting is an important starting point in supporting Kazakhstan as a central gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion in Central Asia.

Representative Dr. Gaipov Davronzhon, Rector of Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), and university administrators said that Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) is a leading university in Central Asia by providing teaching and learning to support international students. SDU has many interesting courses, and with all the facilities, Suleyman Demirel University is very pleased to develop cooperation in curriculum or student and personnel exchange together in the future.
 
The administrators of Khon Kaen University added that Khon Kaen University was willing to establish a cooperation in education and research courses in various fields, such as Join research International and Join Project, as well as exchange students and staff. In addition, each faculty of KKU has international programs that are ready to support international exchange students. In the next meeting it is expected  that Khon Kaen University and Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), Kazakhstan will be able to discuss the details of the curriculum and the possibility of building cooperation in other aspects.
