» KKU organized a two-day “Cultural Trip 2022” as an opportunity for international students to engage in cultural exchanges and learn more about Thai culture (804 Views)

The International Affairs Division, Khon Kaen University (IAD, KKU) organized a two-day camp from 30 - 31 August 2022 (Cultural Trip 2022) with overnight stay in the rural village of Dong Lan, Si Chomphu district in Khon Kaen province, for international students at Khon Kaen University (both undergraduate and graduate) to get more closely acquainted with Thai culture. A total of 30 international students from 8 countries: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Germany and Mexico, participated in the program. The Cultural Trip 2022 project provided international students the opportunity to participate in cultural exchange activities, experience life in a local community, and strengthen good relationships between international students and staff at Khon Kaen University. 

The students took part in the “Local Thai Herb” activity, whereby knowledge and folk wisdom on how to make herbal balms was transferred through lectures and demonstrations. Later in the day, the students explored the conservation forest area of Na Udom Village to learn about how natural paints are made and used during the ”Painting stones” activity. This was a very exciting activity that drew a lot of enthusiasm from the project participants. The last activity involved building relationships, exchanging views and summarizing the results from participation in the activities today.

The activities made a great impression on the students and their peers and were very helpful in opening up a variety of cultural experiences. The activities also were a good opportunity to exchange views on life and study and build good friendships with each other. At the end, the students thanked the International Affairs Division, KKU, and the organizers for arranging all the enjoyable and useful activities and expressed the hope that another Cultural Trip would be organized soon.
