On March 27 - 28, 2023, Khon Kaen University (KKU) administrators: Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Assoc. Professor Teekayu P. Jorns, Deputy Dean for Research, Graduate Studies, and International Affairs of the Faculty of Dentistry, attended the International Conference “Integrating Health Systems: Policies and Programs that Work” arranged by Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Mass General Brigham Center for Integration Science, which invited Assoc.Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapat as a Scientific Advisory Committee. 

 

On March 29, 2023, KKU administrators discussed academic and research cooperation with Dr. William Giannobile, Dean of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where all lecturers welcomed them warmly. In addition, Assoc.Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat are alumni and graduated from this school.  

 

According to the opportunity to expand academic and research cooperation with leading universities in the United States noticed by the administrators, the Faculty of Dentistry, KKU, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) on March 30, 2023,  and discussed further collaboration in personnel and student exchanges as well as mutual academic and research activities between the institutions with Dr. Nadeem Karimbux, Dean of TUSDM.

 

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati discussed Head & Neck Oncology collaboration and Health AI with Dr. Lori Wirth, Dr. Shawn Murphy, and Dr. Thomas Roberts, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) on April 3, 2023, and discussed the collaboration in terms of Education Transformation and online learning with Dr. David Roberts, Dean for External Education, Harvard Medical School, on April 4 - 6, 2023.

 

Attending the Global Symposium and discussing the academic and research collaboration above are considered to reinforce KKU’s academic competence and to integrate high-level medical knowledge, which can lead KKU to be a national and regional medical center.
