On Thursday, March 2, 2023, the “Emerging Global Leader Award (K43-NIH)” workshop was undertaken in collaboration between the Research and Graduate Studies and International Affairs. The Vice President for International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati delivered the opening ceremony. This was also honored by Dr. Tipparat Udmuangpia, Senior Nursing Instructor at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen, who joined us as our speaker. She is the first Thai Emerging Global Leader Awardee (K-43 in 2022).
This workshop was held under the Project of the International Research Collaboration and Active Approach for World University Ranking of the fiscal year 2023. The International Affairs Division continuously organizes this kind of activity fiscally. The objectives are to inspire our young academic staff and young researchers getting to learn about international funding agencies, especially K-43 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, in terms of career development and be a platform for exchanging knowledge with K-43 NIH grantee as well as preparing the proposal to submit on coming November 2023. KKU powerfully addresses the National Institutes of Health funding, as we realize that NIH is a very significant global funding source, which provides the fund with a high impact on international research, publications, training, career developments, etc., to at least 300,000 scientists each year.
In conclusion, this workshop met our objective. More than 40 participants attended, and especially some researchers were willing to submit this promising grant by November 2023. Moreover, this would help KKU drive to be Global Frontier Research University and gain a better World Class University Ranking.
