On August 21, 2023, at 09:00 - 10:30 a.m., at meeting room 7 conference room, Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Apichat Jiravuttipong, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Ampornpan Theeranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Chutikan Sakphisutthikul, Associate Dean for Administration and Quality Development, the Faculty of Public Health; Asst. Prof. Kavin Thinkhamrop, Assistant Dean for Research, Academic Service, Innovation and International Affairs, the Faculty of Public Health; and Mrs. Wilawan Ungsunantawiwat, Acting Director of the International Affairs Division, warmly welcomed Prof. Wei Xianggang, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Office Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities  (YMUN) and Mr. Nuttapong Phanachet, Director of the Thai-Chinese Education Center to Khon Kaen University. The purpose of this visit is to discuss academic and research collaboration, especially in the medical sciences field, and the creation of platforms demonstrating information about courses for Chinese students to make it easier for them to reach information, as well as to increase the number of Chinese students wishing to study at Khon Kaen University. They also prepared for the upcoming visit of the President of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities in early 2024.

 

Assistant to the President for International Affairs said, “Youjiang University for Nationalities and Khon Kaen University have established good relations and cooperated for many years since 2009. Later, in 2021, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen our relationship and advance personnel development. Currently, KKU includes many students from YMUN: 7 doctoral students studying in the Faculty of Nursing and a doctoral student studying in the Faculty of Medicine. In the second semester of the academic year 2023, 5 more students will join our Doctoral program in the Faculty of Public Health. Today, we are thrilled to extend our warmest welcome to you. We also plan to expand the scope of student exchange to undergraduate and graduate educations.”

 

Prof. Wei Xianggang stated, “Thank you for your warm welcome. I am pleased to visit many places in Khon Kaen Province. The objectives of today’s visit are to discuss cooperation in YMUN personnel development and joint research with the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Faculty of Public Health and to create an alum network by establishing the KKU-YMUN Alumni Center for graduates at YMUN. In addition, YMUN is pleased to support Thai-Chinese cultural exchange to develop the relationship between Thailand and China.”

 

All administrators from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Faculty of Public Health are pleased to collaborate on joint research and are fully committed to enhancing collaboration in every facet within the university and the affiliated hospital of YMUN.
