On April 23, 2024, at the Sarasin Meeting Room 2, 2nd Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University — Khon Kaen University administrators led by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs; Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, and the administrators and representatives from Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, International College, and College of Local Administration, welcomed the first visit of the Institute of International Education Inc.'s (IIE) administrators, representatives from the United States Embassy in Thailand, and the administrators/staff of teachers from 15 leading U.S. universities under the International Academic Partnership Thailand (IAPP Thailand) program, namely 1) College of Southern Nevada 2) Colorado State University 3) Duke University 4) Georgia Gwinnett College 5) James Madison University 6) Joliet Junior College 7) Oklahoma City Community College 8) Purdue University 9) Tufts University 10) University of Alabama 11) University of California, Davis 12) University of Massachusetts Amherst 13) University of Memphis 14) University of South Alabama and 15) University of Wyoming, in order to learn and understand the educational system of the university as well as exchange knowledge and enhance international academic quality.
Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, stated, "On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I am delighted and honored to welcome everyone. This year is extraordinary on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Khon Kaen University, and this visit will also share a special moment. Certainly, Khon Kaen University is ready to develop academic and research collaborations with your universities in the future. As seen today, we have had important representatives from each faculty attend the meeting to encourage academic collaboration and build good relationships between both institutes.
Khon Kaen University currently has 23 academic memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with educational institutions in the United States, including 18 American staff.
Ms. Courtney Temple, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Institute of International Education Inc.'s (IIE) representative, said, "On behalf of IIE and the representatives of the U.S. universities, we wish to thank Khon Kaen University for giving us a warm welcome. This is our first visit, and we are impressed with the beautiful and warm atmosphere on the campus. Also, we sincerely hope the visit will lead to joint academic collaborations and activities in various fields, such as health sciences, sciences and technology, humanities, and arts and culture."
Ms. Alma Green, Public Engagement and Education Coordinator, a representative from the United States Embassy in Thailand, said
"The U.S. Embassy is pleased to collaborate with Khon Kaen University and leading educational institutions in the United States to encourage and exchange education and strengthen the good relationships between the U.S. and Thailand."
At the end of the meeting, both administrators had the opportunity to network by exchanging their business cards and discussing further collaboration. The atmosphere was warm and pleasant.
Moreover, the administrators from the U.S. also had the opportunity to participate in the KKU Campus Tour, including visits to the KKU Library, KKU Academy, and Li-ion Battery Pilot Plant.
