» The Ambassador of France to Thailand visits KKU to strengthen relations between KKU and France and discuss academic collaboration and research. (224 Views)

On April 26, 2024, at Sirikunakorn meeting room, 6th floor of the Sirikunakorn Building. H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude POIMBOEUF, Ambassador of France in Thailand, accompanied by his spouse and representatives of the Embassy of France in Bangkok, Thailand, visited KKU. They met with a team of administrators led by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and French Language Instructors. The visit aimed to discuss enhancing cooperation in academics, research, and scholarship, particularly in Medical Services, and fostering course collaborations with universities in France. Additionally, the discussion delved into training KKU students to develop French interpretation skills for use in Thailand hospitals.

Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude POIMBOEUF, Ambassador of France in Thailand, accompanied by representatives of the Embassy of France in Bangkok, Thailand, also met with instructors who are alumni of French universities, such as recipients of Franco-Thai, the research PHC SIAM scholarship, and CIRAD. French Major students had the opportunity to engage in discussions and deliver speeches in French. Additionally, there was a discussion about creating cooperation in academic, research, and broader scholarship areas, particularly in training courses for fashion design and design incorporating French language, art, and culture.

Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, emphasized that "Khon Kaen University supports educational collaboration at graduation with the Ambassador of France to Thailand. She highlighted ongoing activities related to scholarship guidance and research under the Campus France of Thailand at KKU, which offers guidance, advice, and opportunities for further planning and study in France.

Moreover, Khon Kaen University supports staff and instructors in pursuing master's degrees in France, with 22 graduates of French universities to date. Additionally, the university has established memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with three more institutions: Groupe Development, The Université Lumière Lyon 2, and the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations.

 

H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude POIMBOEUF, Ambassador of France in Thailand, mentioned, 'On behalf of the Embassy of France in Bangkok, Thailand, I am thankful for Khon Kaen University's warm welcome during my first visit. The university's beautiful and natural surroundings, a Green Campus, make it an ideal setting for an international institution.

In addition, the Agence Consulaire de Khon Kaen and Association la France en Isan de Khon Kaen in Khon Kaen serve as hubs to strengthen economic, social, cultural, and educational cooperation. They support various activities and promote strong relations between French Isan residents and local communities. Moreover, this visit will help us develop a broader range of cooperation.
