On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the International Affairs Division and the Research Affairs of Khon Kaen University organized a proactive event titled "Conquering the Mekong Lancang Grant 2024." The event aimed to prepare KKU faculty members and researchers to apply for grants under the Mekong Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework and drive KKU's strategy towards becoming a Global Frontier Research University. It was honored by the Assistant to the President for Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chiranut Sa-Ngiamsak to deliver the opening ceremony.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for faculty members and researchers to exchange best practices with expert speakers who had previously received the Mekong Lancang grant in three disciplines: Prof. Dr. Metha Wanapat (Science and Technology, 2022 grant recipient) from the Faculty of Agriculture; Asst. Prof. Dr. Charupong Saengboonmee, M.D. (Health Sciences, 2023 grant recipient) from the Faculty of Medicine; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanapauge Chamaratana (Humanities and Social Sciences, 2023 grant recipient) from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The MLC special fund focuses on improving the quality of life for citizens and enhancing cooperation among six member countries: China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. With a funding amount of over $300 million, this grant offers significant and challenging opportunities for KKU's researchers and faculty members across all three disciplines.
In conclusion, the workshop was highly successful, attracting over 50 participants in various field, many of whom are planning to submit proposals in June 2025."
