On January 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Khon Kaen University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University, along with the university's administrator team, participated in the signing ceremony of an academic cooperation agreement with the Institute of Information, Communication, and Technology (IICT) and the Technology Promotion and Transfer Center (TPTC) under the Ministry of Technology and Communications, Lao PDR. The event occurred at the Institute of Information, Communication, and Technology, Lao PDR.

The delegation from Khon Kaen University included Assistant Professor Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Education and Digital, Assistant Professor Anucha Somabut, Assistant to the President for Education, and other faculty leaders such as the Deans of the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Graduate School of Management, College of Local Administration, College of Computing, and the Director of the Science Park at Khon Kaen University.

The agreement aims to foster academic collaboration and innovation, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of faculty, staff, and students' abilities in information technology and artificial intelligence in Lao PDR. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Boviengkham Vongdala, Minister of Technology and Communications, Lao PDR, who welcomed the delegates and discussed the development of academic and research cooperation. Dr. Padapxay Sayakhot, Director of IICT, and Mrs. Kaysone Soulivong, Director of TPCT, signed the agreement.

 In the afternoon, Khon Kaen University hosted a seminar on the topic "From the ICT-Digital Era to the AI Era: Transforming the World Through Advancing AI," with speakers from Khon Kaen University delivering presentations in the 5th-floor conference room of the IICT building. This signing event underscores the commitment to promoting academic, research, and innovation collaboration between Thailand and Lao PDR to strengthen and sustain regional human resource development and innovation.
