» KKU Discusses Collaboration with the Institute of Geography, University of Cologne, Germany (67 Views)

On February 17, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, together with Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krittapat Tapalabutr, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and faculty members met with Professor Dr. Frauke Kraas from the University of Cologne, Germany, and participating students. The discussions focused on academic cooperation, curriculum development, and reviewing activities and educational outcomes between the two universities. The meeting also explored knowledge exchange in architecture and urban planning alongside potential future collaborations in education and research.

In addition, the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University, and the Institute of Geography, University of Cologne, Germany, organized a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony. Both institutions also launched a joint field study program to facilitate knowledge exchange and enhance practical learning experiences for students from both universities. The field study activities included data collection, academic discussions, and the presentation of findings from on-site studies. The program aims to foster an in-depth understanding of urban dynamics, particularly regarding changes in border cities arising from large-scale infrastructure development.

The Institute of Geography at the University of Cologne is internationally recognized for its excellence in research and education. Its expertise encompasses various geographical research topics, focusing on metropolitan studies, urban management, and public health in urban areas. The institute maintains a broad network of academic partnerships with leading universities worldwide.

This collaboration between the two institutions reflects a shared commitment to advancing academic research and education while also strengthening the capabilities of students and faculty members through international educational exchanges.
