On April 8, 2025, at the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Khon Kaen, administrators from Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Chiranut Sa-Ngiamsak, Assistant to the President for Research, along with representatives from the International Affairs Division, participated in the 2025 Lao New Year Celebration “Sabaidee Pi Mai Lao” to strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The event was filled with joy, warmth, and cultural vibrancy, reflecting the close and long-standing relationship between the two neighboring countries.
The celebration was honored by the presence of Mr. Somsack Vilaythone, Consul General of the Lao PDR in Khon Kaen, who delivered the welcoming address. Mr. Siriwat Pinijpanich, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, and Mr. Saleumsay Kommasith, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, also gave congratulatory remarks.
Cultural performances featured during the event included a traditional dance by the Lao Student Club at Khon Kaen University and a local circle dance (Ramwong), highlighting the beauty and richness of Lao culture.
In terms of educational collaboration, Khon Kaen University continues to support academic development in the region through the KKU Scholarship for ASEAN and GMS Countries’ Personnel, awarded annually to students from ASEAN and Greater Mekong Subregion countries. This initiative aims to promote higher education, research, and capacity-building at the graduate level, while strengthening international academic partnerships among member countries.
