» Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand Visits Khon Kaen University to Strengthen Thai–Korean Cooperation in Education and Culture (66 Views)

On June 30, 2025, at the special reception room, 6th floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University (KKU) welcomed H.E. Mr. Yongmin Park , Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, and his delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangkok, Thailand. The KKU  delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, along with Asst. Prof. Atcharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof.Chiranut Sa-Ngiamsak, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation, and Dr. Sukhetsak Wanwacha, Head of the Korean Language Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The visit aimed to reinforce the strong and mutually beneficial ties between Thailand and Korea through collaboration in education, research, innovation, and technology, as well as the promotion of Korean language and culture, particularly the development of the Creative Economy and future collaborative opportunities.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, revealed that KKU has maintained long-standing academic partnerships with leading Korean institutions, especially in the fields of Korean language and cultural education. These include hosting volunteer Korean language instructors from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as knowledge exchanges in technology and medicine. He emphasized that this visit presents a valuable opportunity to expand existing collaborations and to meet the increasing demand for Korean language education by increasing the number of Korean language instructors. Furthermore, he highlighted KKU’s recent visit to COSMAX, a leading Korean company in the beauty manufacturing and innovation industry, as an example of linking academic and industrial sectors in the international context.

H.E. Mr. Yongmin Park expressed his admiration for the capacity and potential of Khon Kaen University and conveyed his pleasure in supporting the enhancement of educational cooperation, especially in Korean language and cultural studies. He emphasized the global influence of “Korean Soft Power,” particularly in the entertainment and creative economy sectors. He also proposed the development of future collaborations, including networks that would allow KKU graduates to pursue careers with Korean companies, thereby benefiting both students and the long-term Thai–Korean relationship.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the discussions. They affirmed their commitment to advancing educational cooperation and expanding collaborative efforts across multiple sectors in pursuit of mutual understanding and sustainable development between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
