On July 14, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of KKU, together with Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirisak Laochankham, Dean of the College of Local Administration, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The delegation led by Mr. Sithong Sikhao, Acting Director General of the Planning Department, Ministry of Education and Sports. The visit was held at Sirikunakorn Room 5, 6th Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, KKU, with the aim of fostering academic cooperation in public policy, strategic plan, education management, and innovation.
The visit aimed to support the Executive Leadership Development Program of the Lao Ministry, with a focus on exchanging experiences in public administration policy, strategic education planning, and educational innovation. The College of Local Administration and the Faculty of Education at KKU co-organized training activities and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote high-impact and sustainable development.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in strengthening regional educational cooperation, particularly in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The initiative emphasizes the capacity-building of senior education executives through exposure to practical frameworks and strategic policies, thereby enhancing institutional effectiveness and long-term sustainability across both countries.

Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, stated "On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I am truly delighted to welcome the delegation from the Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR. KKU has long-standing educational ties with institutions in Lao PDR, and we are proud to contribute to human resource development by producing graduates of high potential. We are fully committed to supporting ongoing collaboration in education, especially in the development of education personnel for the mutual benefit of both countries."
Mr. Sithong Sikhao, Acting Director General of the Planning Department, Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, expressed “On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sports, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the KKU administration for the warm welcome. The purpose of our visit is to conduct a study tour, exchange knowledge, and learn from Thailand’s experience in public administration, educational policy, and innovation, in order to apply such insights to advance the education system in Lao PDR in line with current global trends.” Additionally, the delegation has scheduled study visits to Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, Phayathai School, and the PTT Model School, to observe practical approaches to education management in real-world settings.
