» KKU and SWJTU Expand Collaboration to Advance Excellence in Engineering and Launch Multidimensional Aging Society Research (149 Views)

On October 10, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul., President of Khon Kaen University, together with Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, warmly welcomed a delegation from the Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), People’s Republic of China, led by Assoc. Prof. XIN Ling, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

During the visit, the SWJTU representatives presented the progress of previous collaborations and discussed the objectives of their visit, which aimed to further expand academic cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting built upon the achievements of the KKU–SWJTU Tianyou Railway Institute, which has successfully developed the Railway Engineering and High-Speed Train Programs and implemented the Dual-Degree Program. These accomplishments have paved the way for a broader interdisciplinary research initiative under the project titled
“Developing the China–Laos–Thailand Railway Silver Economy Corridor: A Vision for a Cross-Border Wellness and Retirement Mobility Community Based on China’s Experience and Regional Cooperation.”

The initiative seeks to advance knowledge and address contemporary social challenges through collaboration in various disciplines , including engineering, medicine, business and economics, and creative eco-tourism ,reflecting a shared vision for sustainable international cooperation.

Following the welcoming session, administrators and researchers from both universities held a joint meeting to explore in-depth research collaboration on the topic of “Multidimensional Aging Society” among Thailand, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and the People’s Republic of China. The discussion emphasized emerging challenges and opportunities in data management and the development of the Silver Economy to support rapidly changing demographic structures.
