KHON KAEN – Khon Kaen University (KKU) was honored to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Sonam Palden, Second Secretary of the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Thailand. Mr. Palden attended the "Sithan Navathara Himalayan" International Festival, representing His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

This year's annual Loy Krathong festival was celebrated under the theme "Sithan Navathara Himalayan," masterfully blending the rich cultures of the Mekong River Basin with the enchanting spirit of the Himalayas. The event aims to preserve the beautiful Thai tradition of Loy Krathong, foster international cultural exchange, and conserve the unique identity of the Isan region.

The participation of a representative from the Kingdom of Bhutan—often called the "Land of the Thunder Dragon" and a nation with a unique culture nestled in the Himalayas—perfectly complemented this year's theme. The presence of Mr. Sonam Palden not only strengthens the enduring friendship between the two nations but also symbolizes a cultural bridge connecting the Himalayas to the Mekong River Basin, reinforcing the profound importance of mutual understanding and international cultural exchange.
