On 7 March 2026, the International Affairs Division of Khon Kaen University organized a learning and cultural exchange activity
Cultural Trip 2026: Part 1. The program brought together 30 international students currently studying at the university, including master’s and doctoral students as well as exchange students from various faculties. The participants represented seven countries: Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Nigeria.

The main objective of the program was to provide international students with the opportunity to explore and learn about the multicultural aspects of Northeastern Thailand while strengthening friendships and connections among the international student community.

In the morning, the group of international students and staff from the International Affairs Division visited the Sirindhorn Astronomical Park (7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Observatory) in Ubonrat District, Khon Kaen Province. The observatory serves as an important center for astronomy education for the public and local educational institutions. It provides access to knowledge in astronomy, supports academic services, and promotes public learning in science and astronomy.

In the afternoon, the group continued their visit to Nam Phong National Park. The park’s headquarters is located near the Ubolratana Reservoir, which serves as a significant watershed for the Chi and Phong Rivers. The park is known for its rich natural resources and medicinal plants. Most of the area is covered by mountainous terrain, dry dipterocarp forests, and dry evergreen forests. Notable attractions within the park include Hin Chang Si and scenic cliff viewpoints that overlook the expansive and picturesque Ubolratana Reservoir.

The participating international students expressed deep satisfaction with the experience. They noted that the activity provided valuable opportunities to learn about academic topics, natural environments, and diverse ecosystems. Furthermore, the trip helped strengthen friendships among international students and allowed them to exchange perspectives on studying and living in Thailand.

At the end of the program, the students expressed their sincere appreciation to the International Affairs Division of Khon Kaen University and all organizers involved for arranging such an enjoyable and meaningful activity. They also hoped that similar Cultural Trip activities would be organized again in the future.
