» KKU Welcomes Professor from the University of Porto to Strengthen Academic and Medical Collaboration (13 Views)

On 31 March 2026, Khon Kaen University (KKU) warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Inês Falcão Pires from the Department of Surgery and Physiology, Cardiovascular R&D Centre, Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal, on the occasion of her visit under the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme.
On this occasion, Khon Kaen University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarmon, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, together with faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine, engaged in discussions to explore and strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. The discussion particularly emphasized academic exchange and joint research initiatives.
KKU has maintained an ongoing partnership with the University of Porto through the academic collaboration (MOU) and the Erasmus+ programme, supporting both staff mobility and student mobility. This collaboration serves as a key mechanism in enhancing teaching, learning, and research at the international level.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Inês Falcão Pires conducted academic activities at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. She delivered lectures and workshops on cardiovascular-related topics, including:
1. Cardiac reverse remodelling: mechanisms and clinical implications
2. Animal and human models of cardiovascular research
3. In vitro and in vivo evaluation of cardiac function
4. Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
This visit marks another significant step in strengthening academic and research collaboration between Khon Kaen University and leading European institutions, contributing to the advancement of medical education and research on a global scale.
