» KKU Cooperates with Mhesi holds 14th APEC Khon Kaen International Conference 2019 to promote AI through Thai Education (1409 Views)

On 18 November 2019 Institute for Research and Development in Teacher Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP) cooperates with Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation holds 14th APEC Khon Kaen International Conference 2019 During 18-20 November 2019 on the topic of “APEC MEETING IN DIGITAL ERA: AI FOR EDUCATION” at Institute for Research and Development in Teacher Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP), Khon Kaen University, In this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University, together with Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha , Vice President for Education, delivered the report. Also, in this event was honored to deliver an address speech by Dr. Luksmon Smansin, Director of International Resources Mobilization and Utilization Group, Bureau of International Cooperation Strategy, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Thailand. At the event, there are distinguished lectures in Curriculum Specialist and AI for Education. Moreover, there are specialists from 21 APEC member economies, from 10 countries, attending to develop and promote teaching and learning in the digital era to professors, students, and researchers in higher education in institutions and also develop further international collaboration in education.  

During the conference, Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University said that AI or artificial intelligence plays an important role in learning and teaching. In addition, good development should begin with a good education. Khon Kaen University as a center of learning, we have the Faculty of Education where we continuously developing research and teaching such as Center for Research for Mathematics Education. Therefore, this conference will be a good opportunity to discuss international cooperation in education.  

Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha , Vice President for Education said that this year Khon Kaen University, Thailand is honored to host APEC Khon Kaen International Conference 2019. It has been a cooperative project for 14 years between Khon Kaen University Thailand and University of Tsukuba, Japan. We mainly focus on AI for education to boost international specialists and academics from various countries, such as Japan, South Korea, Chile and Russia to discuss the concept of AI in the transformative age. 

Prof. Lee Hee-Chan, President of Korea National University of Education said that AI or Artificial intelligence, currently, could be compared as a computer that can manage to teach by itself. However, there is only one thing that AI cannot do. That is “an advanced human intelligence”. Therefore, we should improve teacher’s potential to be more effective. In response to the modern changing age.
