On November 26, 2020, at 09.00 hrs., at Sirikunakorn 3, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building, International Affairs Division held the AI for Healthcare in the Post COVID-19 era: period 2 workshop, which aimed to support innovative creativity and learning in both machine building and medical services, as well as boost the potential of KKU and other institutions’ lecturers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop AI in healthcare. This activity was the second phase; the first phase was organized last July, 2020.  Many participants both on-line and on-site were interested in the activities and provided positive feedback regarding the continual advancement of this endeavour.

This event was privileged by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs, who presided over it, and additionally by Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, who delivered the opening speech.  Also, it was an honor that our administrators attended, such as  Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Vice President for Education and Academic Services, Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Digital, Asst. Prof. Pipat Reungsang, Assistant to the President for Digital, Asst. Prof. Prawit Butudom, Vice Dean for Academic and Research, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Assoc. Prof. Wanida Kanarkard, Director of KKU Library, as well as Mrs. Wilawan Ungsunantawiwat, Acting Director of International Affairs Division. This was such a great opportunity for KKU lecturers, students, and the audience to gain new knowledge from the keynote speakers regarding AI and smart tools in healthcare.

This day was the first day of the two day workshop, and two topics were lectured by expert speakers. The first topic was the CIRACORE AI Platform, which was held by Assoc. Siridech Boonsang from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and the second one was IoT, by Asst. Prof. Chatchai Khunboa, Faculty of Engineering, KKU. During each workshop, participants were eagerly involved in, practiced along with, and also interacted with the speaker by discussing possibilities to expand their knowledge and skills in healthcare duties at their faculty, hospital or clinic by implementing AI and other smart tools.

November 27 is to be the second day of the workshop and there are two interesting topics; the first one is under the title “How to leverage healthcare service with the chatbot (It’s all about customer journey)” by Mr. Songphon Buasathit, Chief Executive Officer of Botio Ltd., and the second one is AI for Image Analysis on the cloud by Dr. Thanapong Intharah from the Faculty of Sciences, KKU. It is expected that many participants will attend the workshop since many have reserved their seats via linked registration. So, it sounds very promising that AI in healthcare nowadays is very interesting to our lecturers, medical staff and others who are willing to gain deep knowledge and smart practices in their lives.  Importantly, KKU's mission of developing as a medical hub and digital university will come to fruition through our strategic plan soon. Many thanks are owed to our special speakers who led this workshop, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation who supports KKU with the budget, and all other participants who joined this two-day workshop.
