On January 7, 2020, at 09.30, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, presided over the event “MOU and MOA practice meeting” which related to intellectual property between Khon Kaen University and private sectors or outside agencies. This event was held by KKU Innovation and Enterprise at Kalaprapruek 6, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University, and led by Prof. Thidarut Boonmars, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, together with the representatives of the Law Division, International Affairs Division, General Affairs Division, and Intellectual Property Center and other organizations in KKU who attended the meeting by Zoom online meeting.
This meeting aimed to discuss misunderstandings of the "differentiated" approach to academic cooperation between the MOU and the MOA that have resulted in a slowdown of work processes. Additionally, they have sometimes affected researchers and universities through a loss of intellectual property interests after they passed the process of signing for commercial interests with the private sector or outside agencies. Therefore, to understand the guidelines for cooperation related to intellectual property between Khon Kaen University and the private sector or outside agencies, and to operate successfully and effectively for the university and researchers, KKU Innovation and Enterprise held this meeting to clarify the understanding of common practices. In addition, Khon Kaen University has also released Announcement No. 715/2020 on the Guidelines for Academic Cooperation on Intellectual Property between Khon Kaen University and the private sector or outside agencies to clarify and create an understanding of the operating process, supervision, and related documents for researchers and the departments in charge.
