» Cholangiocarcinoma associated network take the campaign on “World CCA Day” (885 Views)

On February 11, 2021, delegations from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, together with the Cholangiocarcinoma associated network, Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation,Cholangiocarcinoma Research Center of Excellence, Srinagarind Hospital, the medical team of Srinagarind hospital, and Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, joined a campaign on “Light the way for Cholangiocarcinoma patients” at the Cholangiocarcinoma cancer ward/ care unit and Srinagarindra Princess Mother monument on the occasion of World Cholangiocarcinoma Day (World CCA Day)on this February 12, 2021. This event was honored by Assoc. Prof. Apichat Jiravuttipong, M.D., Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and Assoc. Prof. Songsak Kiatchoosakun, M.D., Director of Srinagarind hospital who attended the event.    

Assoc.Prof.Narong Khuntikeo, M.D., director of Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, said “The problem of Liver fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma is that these are harmful diseases that take the lives of more than 20,000 people per year in Isaan. That equals to 100 plane crashes per year. This is a considerable problem that hinders the development of Thailand. Solving this problem requires the cooperation of all sectors. Public sectors, government and private sectors need to campaign in various fields to prevent and resolve the problems of liver fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma. All matters need to be integrated and driven simultaneously. Now, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute is bringing together knowledge and driving the prevention and cure of this problem together with associated network partners and civil society. Every year the 12th of February will be designated as World Cholangiocarcinoma Day. Associated networks are to tackle the problem of Cholangiocarcinoma worldwide and will come out to join a campaign to raise awareness to the people to recognise the dangers of Cholangiocarcinoma (Liver fluke).
