On March 22, 2021, at Sirikunakorn meeting room, 6th floor Sirikunakorn Building. H.E. Dr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France in Thailand, accompanied by representatives of the Embassy of France in Bangkok, Thailand, visited KKU to meet with a team of administrators, led by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs.The French delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs , Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, together with Assoc. Prof. Orathai Piayura, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, administrators from various faculties and lectures. The meeting's objective was to discuss academic cooperation in research, especially in Smart City, High Speed Train, Medical Hub or One Health for All. In addition, we also discussed graduate scholarships (Franco-Thai), exchange of students and research in France such as the PHC Siam Mobility project between Thai-French researchers and the Campus France, Thailand project, which is a study guidance agency in France.
Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs, said, "Khon Kaen University has continually supported higher education in France, especially Campus France, Thailand, which is the agency that advises and plans for studying in France. Currently, Campus France has advised over 500 Thai students, and also supported scholarships for staff and lecturers to study abroad at the graduate level. Presently there are more than 17 graduates from educational institutions in France. There are also MOUs with five educational institutions: Groupe Developpement, The Université Lumière Lyon 2, Univerite de Franche Comte, University of Montpellier and University of Strasbourg.
However, in 2020 many things changed due to the new Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. It has caused universities worldwide to prepare for a long-term change. It is a challenging test of the education system to develop new alternative education. Today is an excellent opportunity to discuss the vision and direction together with the embassy. "
Additionally,a special lecture was held at 13.00 hrs. at the meeting room 3, 2nd floor, HS05 building of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, entitled "Studies in France and Scholarship" under the cooperation of the Embassy of France in Bangkok, Thailand. Khon Kaen University and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were honored by Mr. Benjamin Apocher, Head of Campus France, Thailand, and his representatives, to give the lecture this time. The purpose of this lecture was to guide students of all levels of studying in France and to share experiences in further education and the culture of France. The event hosted over 80 participants and was held under covid-19 safety measures.
