Congratulations to Mr. Jiramet Prueksawan, a 4th-year student majoring in Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University, who won the Bronze Award. Miss Pimchanok Sanguansak won the Best color choice award, and Mr. Warunthorn Phoonsawat received the Qualification Architecture Award in the Asia Young Designer Awards Thailand 2021 contest in the Architectural Category. The results were announced and received on December 7, 2021, at True Digital Park, 6th floor, Sukhumvit 101, Bangkok.
Mr. Jiramet Prueksawan received a Bronze Award with the project named "Laborer Architecture". The concept of the existence of architecture builders can be realized and be used in practice. It creates a perspective that transforms into a person's image or professional trait.
Miss Pimchanok Sanguansak received the Best color choice award with the work named "Northeastern of Disaster Prevention and Education Centre" or NPEC. The design is inspired by the idea of preventing and coping with various disasters, allowing us to understandably coexist with nature. The concept design is "divergent", where the building was thought of by simulating plates with thick opacity. The primary color tone is natural. The wall will be textured and painted brown to make it look like a clay wall. Creating the landscape work to solve flood problems that can occur in the future, there will be rain relief boards and water-absorbing areas within the project as a sample area in the urban context.
And finally, Mr. Warunthorn Phoonsawat received the Qualification Architecture Award with the project called "Loneliness haus". When technology plays an increasingly important role in life, humans gradually lose social interaction, causing various factors to follow. What can clearly be seen is 'loneliness'. When people feel more lonely, they turn to social media as therapy. In medical terms, the consequences of this leads to 'depression'. So, it would be great if there are activities or places that could heal lonely people, because I believe that human beings are the most important resource. The design concept uses the loneliness of the user, who came to use to mold them into the same space. Which means that Space and the internal function must create the mood moving from loneliness to cheerfulness, like traveling to desired areas, which must consist of private areas and public areas that will benefit the user.
This year, the theme of the "Asia Young Designer Awards" contest is organized under the theme "FORWARD: Amplifying Empathy Through Design" to emphasize the new generation of "designers" to create their work through a thought process, and to deeply understand the problems of user, in order to draw out the needs and necessities to design. It is presented as a design solution that combines innovation and technology to enhance the quality of life and to meet the users' needs in physical, mental, emotional, environmental, social, cultural, and economic aspects.
Architectural Design Category: Third-year students and above must present architectural design solutions that are useful, responsive, and understand people, society and environments that reflect the reality of today. Ready to apply innovation to attract people to use it. The work of such designs must be located on an area of not more than 40,000 square meters.
Interior Design Category: 2nd-year students and above must present a portfolio of interior design that enhances the quality of life and well-being, both physically and emotionally, as well as pay attention to the surrounding elements, including taking into account the environment within the area and surrounding communities, which must be allocated on an area not exceeding 2,800 square meters.
We would like to thank Assoc. Prof. Kunlasri Thungsakul, Asst. Prof. Chumnan Boonyaputthipong and Asst. Prof. Att Chamaruk for the achievements of the students who received the awards, for being their advisors and for helping to guide the students towards their success.
