» Faculty of Veterinary Medicine joins MBA, KKU, to offer a dual degree program with an aim to enhance business administration capacity among vet students (1117 Views)
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and College of Graduate Study in Management, Khon Kaen University, on seeing that a joint curriculum between the two institutes would lead to benefits among the students, alumni, personnel of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and other people who are involved with veterinary medicine occupation, decided to sign an MOA on arranging a more-than-one degree program.
Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. – Khon Kaen University held an MOA signing ceremony for collaboration in offering a dual degree program between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and College of Graduate Study in Management. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the signing ceremony. Among those who represented the two institutions in MOA signing were Assoc. Prof. Lampang Maenmart, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Graduate Study in Management; Assoc. Prof. Bandit Tenjaroenkul, Ph.D., D.V.M., Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Jetsada Jiwaganon, Ph.D., D.V.M., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Peerapon Sook-uan, Ph.D., D.V.M., Vice Dean for Research; Ajarn Sakchai Charoenpornsirikul, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Graduate Study in Management; Asst. Prof. Panatporn Ruanchoengchum, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Business Administration of the College of Graduate Study in Management. The event took place at Sirikunakorn Room, 3rd Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.
This MOA is aimed at arranging a multiple degree program between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Graduate Study in Management of Khon Kaen University. The rationale behind the collaboration is the fact that Khon Kaen University wants to offer programs that benefits students by studying courses in related programs that will strengthen their capacities in the future according to the national strategy in education. KKU and the two joining institutions also see that a joint-degree program would lead to benefits for the students and individuals who are involved with veterinary profession.
Assoc. Prof. Lampang Maenmart, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Graduate Study in Management explained that according to the Khon Kaen University’s regulations on the Offering of Multiple Degree Programs, 2020, the University aims at offering the programs that comply with the new educational paradigm that opens widely and offer more benefits to the students to take courses in different programs at the same time, or continuously.
“For the students under the veterinary medicine, when they graduate and are employed in governmental or private organizations, or run their own businesses like clinic, animal farm, manufacturing foods; besides the knowledge in their own field, they will need knowledge and skill in administration. The faculty and MBA program therefore see the benefits that the students will receive. This program collaboration will enhance the skill and capacities in business administration for the vet students. The MOA will also support other activities seen appropriate by the two parties,” said Dr. Lampang.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University added that at present, Khon Kaen University has set an educational strategy for programs that follow the new paradigm in education. Therefore curricula will from now on be developed so that there will be education transformation according to the strategy. It is a good chance that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Graduate Study in Management are joining to offer a dual degree program for the vet students so that they are now able to register for courses in MBA while studying in their undergraduate vet program.
A committee will be appointed that consists of personnel from the two institutions to lay the scope of this program so that it will enable vet students to register for their selected courses offered by the College of Graduate Study in Management. The period of collaboration under the MOA will be 6 years, beginning from the date the MOA was signed. The Agreement can be extended as seen fit by the two institutions.
