On August 3, 2021, the Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University held a formal online opening ceremony for the “Training Center for Thai Chinese Language Teachers, Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University” (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”). The Center is part of the 15th-anniversary celebration of the founding of the Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University, and of creating a plan to achieve one’s objectives by adhering to the principle of “improve quality, enhance efficiency, reform and develop" to welcome the opening of the era of Chinese teacher training.
The event honored the presence of Dr. Suthep Kangsantia, Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission, Ms. Feng Junying, Advisor to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, Ms. Liao Junyun, Consul-General of the People's Republic of China in Khon Kaen Province, Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Phanthongviriyakul, M.D. President of Khon Kaen University ,Professor Chen Shijian, Vice President of Southwest University, Professor Liu Xun, Beijing Language and Culture University and Professor Praiwan Kanyaphan, a representative of Chinese language teachers and lecturers of the Confucius Institute in Thailand. Professor Wang Baohua, Huanan Teacher University presided over the opening and congratulation ceremony. More than 200 people from various universities, teachers and students of the Confucius Institute Khon Kaen University participated in the online opening ceremony.

In the afternoon, the Confucius Institute KKU organized an “Advanced Research Course for Local Chinese Language Teachers in Thailand” for the first time by Professor Liu Xun from Beijing University of Language and Culture, who was honored to be a speaker. More than 500 teachers and students attended the lectures online. In addition, there were more than 200 participants attending the seminar, sharing knowledge and understanding. This seminar has invited renowned experts and academics to manage lectures online, while simultaneously organizing workshops to enhance the efficiency of the lectures and guide the participants to carry out the activities of teaching, learning and doing research. Once trainees have passed exams and assessments, they will receive a training certificate issued by the “center”. Those who have received outstanding research awards, are eligible for funding from the Confucius Institute research program Khon Kaen University.
